Description
Editor and collector Timothy Prus has been interested in amateur found images long before the subject was picked up and accepted in most of contemporary art. He has gathered over 4 million images and released them in dozens of publications under the title “Archives of Modern Conflict”.
The Luton Auguries began with the purchase of the newspaper archives of the city of Luton. From this vast source material, Timothy Prus selects and assembles a series of images, creating a surrealist storyline. Applying invented legends to the stories in the images, he invites the viewer into the fantasy of the narrative he creates.
The artist created a special leather motif from which each back cover was cut out, making a single original out of each copy.
RVB BOOKS is an independent Parisian company that publishes books according to an original modus operandi, born thanks to the possibilities offered by Internet, and yet close to the Pre-Gutenbergian era of publishing. Matthieu and Rémi work on the assumption that each and every book, and in some cases, every model (Skin Memories by Thomas Mailender*) of every author should have its own form and format. Not a collection, but a living spirit which is not frozen into rigid forms.
Mathieu Charon and Rémi Faucheux both followed singular paths in the publishing industry before uniting their ideas and their know-how to create RVB BOOKS in 2011. Matthieu was at the origin of the collection Janvier Léo Scheer: monographs devoted to artistic photography, while Rémi directed the publishing project “Clinic” with Useful Photography.
