Welcome to Paradise, here come jeans made of locally grown hemp, in the Lot, France, to be exact.
Unlike cotton, hemp – every chic hippie on earth knows that – is a hardy plant, requiring little to no plant-care products or water, furthermore, it covers very well and doesn’t need weedkillers.
And Please, note that in the 18th century, Célestin Tuffery was already using hemp to make his pants, the production was spreading on 500 000 acres, in the Lot.
Hemp twill is naturally mottled, and – without any smart trick or connexion to a downloadable app. – thermoregulatory et antiseptic : you can’t stop progress.
Here is our first drop of 300 pairs of hemp jeans made in france, available from the 1st of May. For each pair sold, Atelier Tuffery & Virgocoop* will plant 750 sq. ft. of hemp in the Lot.
This hemp twill was born after two years of development conducted by Virgocoop & Atelier Tuffery.
Célestin Tuffery, tailor of Florac since 1892, made Yves Saint Laurent’s dream come true before he even dreamed it: he invented the first French pair of jeans.
Since 1892, Tuffery jeans have never stopped being made in Florac, in the Cevennes. Each pair delivered bears a label with the name of the tailor who made it as well as a small thread reel, so you can adjust the leg length to your measures.
